“An Ode to Pioneers” (Original Sonnet)

When certain people find their days a bore
And can’t imagine drudging forward in vain,
Then some will seek out change. One might explore
By vent’ring out or calling on one’s brain.

To pioneer demands no wagon train,
But rather visionaries who branch out,
Who ‘gnore the box, who go against the grain,
Who aren’t content to simply plod about.

This engineering spirit spurs us on
Toward inspiration, innovation, change.
Ne’er settle for what’s bland or prompts a yawn!
Allow yourself a full, creative range!

Use all thy talents, gents, yea, use them all;
And ladies, heed the pioneering call!
