An academic article of mine, “Driving Tyranny Home: A Narrative Consideration of Pavlensky’s Fixation,” appears in the Spring 2016 edition of the Undergraduate Research Journal of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (Volume 9, Number 2). This analysis makes use of Burkean theory to look at the performance piece Fixation by conceptualist artist Petr Pavlensky. Concepts considered include the representative anecdote, the pentad, and tragic heroism.

From Erin Halverson and Katrina Marie Rutz, the editors of this issue: “We close with Christopher Bacavis’ “Driving Tyranny Home: A Narrative Consideration of Pavlensky’s Fixation,” an article that uses rhetorical analysis and narrative criticism to examine the performance piece’s commentary on governmental power.”

You can find a digital version of the piece here.
